At Fellowship Community Church, we keep it simple. Our eyes are fixed on one thing: following Jesus and making His name great, both in our Roanoke Valley and around the world. What we think, teach, and believe about Jesus is informed by the Bible, and we’re committed to following His example rather than following a specific movement or particular way of doing ministry. We believe Jesus offers the only hope for salvation, so our vision here at Fellowship centers around following Jesus every day and sharing Him with everyone, everywhere.

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”  – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“But, he [Jesus] would withdraw to desolate places and pray.” – Luke 5:16

While on Earth, Jesus dedicated time to prayer and solitude, hearing the voice of God and obeying it. As followers of Jesus, we believe we should follow His example, spending time in the Word of God daily so that we, too, can hear His voice and obey it. For us, engaging with the Word of God looks like a few simple but profound disciplines that we can practice every day. You can tune into our daily podcast here.

Reading the Word

We come to know the character of God by reading the Bible. As we learn more about Him, we grow in wisdom, receive instructions about how we should live, think, and believe, and gain spiritual maturity as we build our lives on a firm foundation of truth.

Praying the Word

When we know the Word of God through daily reading and study, we allow God’s words to shape and deepen our prayer life. We can ask God for things according to the truths we find throughout Scripture. The pages of the Bible are a powerful prayer tool.

Living the Word

We believe the Holy Spirit works through our time in the Word, calling us into a holy life and equipping us to be obedient to Christ. The Christian life is a lifelong growth experience, and God is always ready to show us through His Word how we can become more like Him.

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” – Colossians 2:6-7

We believe everyone should be connected to a community of Jesus followers because we know that we were not designed to practice our faith alone. Worship is more than a gathering or a service – it’s a lifestyle that changes us to look more like God. We desire everyone to be involved in this kind of life-changing community, serving others with our gifts and talents, giving and living generously, and engaging in friendships that spur us on to look more like Jesus. At Fellowship, this vision is fourfold.

Everyone Gathering to Worship

Sunday services are one of the pillars that form our faith. When we gather together, we have the opportunity to learn from biblical teaching, worship Jesus alongside friends and strangers, and engage with the rhythm of the Sabbath, resting from our regular schedule to spend time with God.

Everyone Participating in a Group

Groups offer a valuable opportunity to go deeper with a smaller number of people. We may not know everyone in the room on a Sunday, but sitting with a Life Group allows us to know others and be known ourselves. In groups, we pray for one another, learn together, and support and encourage each other. You can learn more about Life Groups here.

Everyone Serving in a Ministry

We believe that the church is more than just a building. As followers of Jesus, we are the church, and we get the honor of serving others within it. God equipped each of us with gifts and talents, and we can use those to build the kingdom of God by serving in a ministry role that aligns with those gifts and talents. You can learn more about serving at Fellowship here.

Everyone Living Generous Lives

As followers of God, we get to follow His example of generosity by living generously ourselves. We can practice generosity through financial tithes and offerings, but we can also adopt a generous spirit in all things, including our time and our talents. You can learn more about giving at Fellowship here.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe Jesus was clear in his call – as we follow Him, we are meant to carry His name to our neighborhoods and to the nations. At Fellowship, we want to share the good news of the gospel with everyone we can, both across the street and around the world. We get the opportunity to share this good news when we love others and serve them well. We want to share the gospel everywhere, and we do this by focusing on three specific groups.

Our Neighborhoods

The Word of God tells us to love our neighbor, and we take that command literally. We believe that we should know our neighbors and live life alongside them whenever we can. This can be as simple as sharing a meal together, helping them mow their lawn, or praying with them when they have a need. Learn how you can care for your neighbors here.

The Roanoke Valley

Many people in our city and the surrounding areas don’t know Jesus, and we want to do everything we can to tell them about Him and demonstrate His love for them. We do this by supporting local schools, meeting needs in our community, and helping families throughout our valley. Learn more about how you can be FOR the Roanoke Valley here.

The World

We partner with fantastic organizations on a local, national, and global level to share the gospel around the world. By joining up with those who are already serving effectively, we can empower their organizations to reach even more people with the good news of the gospel.
